How I started…
Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, there was a little girl whose father brought home a 45, floppy, vinyl record from his work along with a stack of copy paper which turned out to be something called a “survey”. Each member in the family was to listen to both sides of the record, and then complete the questions. The objective? “We get to help decide the new ad”.
The company was General Electric (GE), the little girl was me and at that moment, I was hooked. I didn’t know exactly what I was participating in, but I thought it was just the coolest thing ever and wanted to learn more.
Choosing between the “A” side and the “B” side for GE’s We Bring Good Things to Life campaign jingle may have been the first step in my interest in all things advertising. Along the way, I discovered that people actually had careers writing and creating. I grew up watching Dorothy Fuldheim and Barbara Walters. That led me to the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University where I rediscovered my love of advertising and chose it as my concentration.
Fast forward a few decades and I’ve been lucky enough to work with teams of amazing people doing what I love. Not only “deciding the new ad” but also creating compelling content across a variety of digital platforms, in print media, immersive, experiential activities/events and more.
